George S. Clason

George Samuel Clason (1874–1957) was an American author and publisher. He is best known for his book The Richest Man in Babylon, which was first published in 1926. Clason began his career in publishing, founding the Clason Map Company of Denver, Colorado, and publishing the first road atlas of the United States and Canada. His most enduring work, however, came from a series of informational pamphlets about thrift and financial success, which he began writing in 1926. These pamphlets, written in the style of ancient Babylonian parables, were distributed by banks and insurance companies and eventually compiled into the classic book. Clason's simple, timeless principles of personal finance have made his work a foundational text for wealth-building for nearly a century.
